Pivot Point Academies Host Cut-a-Thon in Evanston and Bloomingdale, IL May 22, 2014
Funds Raised Benefit National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
EVANSTON, Ill, May 18, 2014 /KidZNewswire/ -- On May 22, 2014, Pivot Point International, Inc. cosmetology students will support National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Cut-a-Thons will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., at Pivot Point Academy Evanston, located at 1560 Sherman Ave., 847-905-5300, and Pivot Point Academy Bloomingdale, located at 144 E. Lake St. (Springdale Shopping Center), 847-985-5900.
The Academies educational staff and students will lead the fundraising effort, accepting donations for their salon-quality hair and skin care services. All funds raised through student salon services will be donated to NCMEC. Walk-in clients will be accepted but to ensure an appointment, please call the Academies to schedule.
NCMEC COO Linda Krieg, and Alicia Kozakiewicz, who survived abduction at age 13 through the efforts of NCMEC, will speak with Pivot Point students and guests at the Evanston campus at 9:00 a.m. Pivot Point Chairman and CEO Robert Passage and Evanston Mayor ElizabethTisdahl will provide opening remarks.
Pivot Point alumnus Ivan Zoot also will be offering haircuts. Zoot holds three Guinness Book of World Records, including: fastest hair cut in the world; most hair cuts in one hour; and most haircuts in 24-hours, non-stop. The Evanston and Bloomingdale Police Departments will offer ink fingerprint services for Chicagoland children.
Last year, there were more than 400,000 missing children reported to law enforcement in the U.S. In addition, U.S. law enforcement has seen a dramatic increase in cases of sexual exploitation of children in recent years, including child pornography, online enticement and child sex trafficking.
Pivot Point became involved with the NCMEC in 1997, when my late sister Corrine created the Pivot Point Cares for Kids program," said Pivot Point Chairman and CEO Robert Passage.
